One of the major benefits for those working through electrician apprenticeships is the salary received from the work experience training. Studying has become an expensive business these days and committing to a full time course at a college or university can be a financial drain. Studying through an apprenticeship eases the burden and choosing to train as an electrician can therefore make a good career choice.
Qualified electricians can expect to make an average salary of around $50,000 per year. Apprentices, however, will have to work up to this. As their training starts they can expect to make somewhere in the region of 30 to 50% of the rate that the fully qualified electricians they work with earn.
However, payment for apprentices tends to rise fairly quickly as their training progresses and they become more experienced. As their working responsibilities increase, trainee electricians can typically expect their salary to also increase. Once they have completed their apprenticeships, they should then expect to earn the salary of a qualified electrician.
