
-A tutorial that shows how to make a cool eclipse effect.

-Start out with a new image. 400 x 400 px.
-Go to Edit>Preferences>Guides, Grid and Slices... or hit Ctrl + K then Ctrl + 6
-Change the grid settings like this

-Now hit Ctrl + ' to activate the grid.
-Hit D to reset your palette to black and white.
-Fill the layer you're working on with black (Alt + backspace) , then using the grid select the right half of your layer (make sure its exactly half) and fill it with white (Ctrl + backspace).
-Your image should now look like this.

- Go to Filter>Stylize>Wind...
-Use these settings and hit ok.
-Now hit Ctrl + F 3-4 times. This will repeat the last filter you used, in this case Wind...
-Now rotate your image Counter Clock-Wise by going to Image>Rotate Canvas> 90 CCW.

-Your image should now look like this. |

-Now go to Filter>Distort>Polar Coordinates...
- and use these settings.

-You should have something like this: |

-Now is where it get's subjective. I decided to go with a nice tint of blue.
-To colorize your image go to Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation...
Hue: 212
Saturation: 31
Lightness: 0
-These are the settings I used, feel free to expirement on your own with other colors.
-This is what the blue looks like.
-Now we are going to add the spacial body (planet or moon or whatever) that is being eclipsed.
-Make sure the Grid is still activated (Ctrl + ' to toggle)
-Make a new layer and then using the grid and the Circular Marquee tool make a selection like the one I have made here.

-Making sure you are on a new layer fill the Selection with Black (Alt + Backspace)
-Now apply these layer styles (Layer>Layer Styles)
-With these settings.
