-This is my most complicated tutorial to date. As with all tutorials dealing with animation it is longer and more complicated than tutorials dealing with still images. As always follow instructions closely and you can get this cool effect at home.

1

a. Start out with a file 80 x 80 px. We are using a relatively small canvas in this tutorial to keep the file size low.

b. Now go to Edit>Preferences>Guides, Grid and Slices...

Use these settings:

Gridline Every: 80 pixels

subdivisions: 16

c. View>Show>Grid to show the grid or hit Ctrl + '

d. Use the circular marquee tool to make a selection like this. Make sure you hold shift while making the selection, this will insure that it is perfectly round. Also pay attentionthat the selection is 2 blocks from each side.

e. After you make sure your selection is in the right place go to Edit>Stroke...

use these settings:

Width: 5 px

Color: Black (000000)

Location: Inside

Mode: Normal

Opacity: 100%

make sure that you don't do the stroke on your background layer. It needs to have it's own layer.

a. Next on two seperate layers, use the rectangular marquee tool to make lines like the ones in the example.

b. After you have made the vertical line and the horizontal line, each on its own layer, Hit Ctrl + A to select the canvas.

c. First on one layer and then the other select the move tool and hit the Align Horizontal Centers button and the Align Vertical Centers button. This is to center the crosshairs.

d.After you have centered the 2 layers merge them together. Do this by clicking on whichever layer is on top in the layers pallete (layer 4 in my example) and going to Layer>Merge Down or hitting Ctrl + E.

3

a. Click on the layer that has your circle on it. Then click inside the circle with the Magic Wand Tool.

b. Go to Select>Modify>Expand

expand the selection 2 pixels

c. After you expand the selection click on the crosshair layer and his backspace to clear the selection. Then hit Ctrl + E to merge the crosshair layer and the circle layer together.

4

a. Apply these layer styles to the newly merged layer.

5

a. Now Change the color of the background layer from white to black.

b. The tutorial Continues on Page 2
